Green Man My Father (Life Size)
Wheel Thrown Spheres This work all thrown, examines the sphere, its external surface and form, its internal volume and its viewed perception, the maintaining of the overall spherical form, even with deconstruction and subsequent reassembly of the sectioned items. I am currently examining the manipulation of space and perspective, that the spherical vessel utilises both internally with its containment and externally in the space that it occupies. I am utilising and developing the sphere in the thrown form, from its deconstruction, its amalgamation with new component pieces, and its subsequent reconstruction to its original spherical form. The deconstruction and subsequent manipulation of the body allows the viewer the opportunity to explore the main inner space of the vessel through the toroidal orifice, and the secondary inner space through the viewing slot cut through the body. The pieces of work are mounted on a separate thrown "bangle style" base, thus allowing the sphere and its associated orifices and alterations to be viewed in variable profiles, enabling the viewer to maximise dimension, perspective, profile and light. The work is made from a stoneware body, with cold surface application to provide a variable, subtle surface finish.

A body of work based on family units, based on the form of ceramic pots. The first development "The Metrosexual Family" was recently on show at St.Davids' Hall Cardiff, with my latest development being based around the Victorian/Edwardian Family, exploring their relationship to infant mortality and losses of the Great War. The Victorian/Edwardian family The Victorian/Edwardian family consists of a Father & Mother, a large family of children and depictions of infant mortality and degeneration brought about by the virulent diseases of the era together with physical examples of the loss of sons and fathers in the Great War. This work epitomises my home town of Barry in its Heyday of development. The Surviving Family Mother & Daughters
